Ellie Siedow

GOTR welcomes our New Program Director

Hi! My name is Ellie Siedow and I’m the new Program Director at Girls on the Run of the Chippewa Valley.

I love to cook, read, practice yoga, and take walks with my dog. I grew up here in Eau Claire, and I’m so excited to start meeting girls from our community and helping them to become confident, joyful, and healthy young women.

Please Welcome Ellie to GOTR of the Chippewa Valley!

Girls on the Run of the Chippewa Valley

Girls on the Run is a transformational physical activity based positive youth development program for girls in 3rd-5th grade. We teach life skills through dynamic interactive lessons and running games. The program culminates with the girls being physically and emotionally prepared to complete a celebratory 5k running event. The goal of the program is to unleash confidence through accomplishment while establishing a lifetime appreciation of health and fitness.

Girls on the Run is an Independent Council of Girls on the Run International, which has a network of over 225 councils across the United States and Canada.

We use the power of running to provide girls with the tools to:

  • Recognize our power and responsibility to be intentional in our decision making
  • Embrace our differences and find strength in our connectedness
  • Express joy, optimism and gratitude through our words, thoughts and actions
  • Nurture our physical, emotional and spiritual health
  • Lead with an open heart and assume positive intent
  • Stand up for ourselves and others

We use exercise, positive reinforcement, and encouraging role models to help girls discover the confidence they need in those critical pre-teen years and beyond. Through interactive activities such as running, playing games, and discussing important issues, participants learn how to celebrate being their unique and real selves. Our hope is that every girl believes and can say, "I belong just the way I am."

Meet one of our Solemates for Girls on the Run of the Chippewa Valley... Rachel Woratschka!! Why a Solemate? I became a Solemate because I love Girls on the Run and what it represents! I am extremely passionate about building confidence early on in young women and teaching them joyful healthy living habits. Crossing the finish line is a self esteem booster for ANYONE; seasoned runner or new runner and especially a young girl who has never done it before. What happens in their heart from that day forward could be life changing! I run because I can; not because I am a natural. I run to prove to myself daily I can accomplish a goal no matter how big or small and I might as well support something I love if I am going to do it anyway! What motivates you? Those who stumble and fall, but pick themselves back up and make something of their lives inspire me. Anyone who goes above and beyond the norm to live their lives out loud & give back to others. And because of that, Molly Barker, founder of GOTR, inspires me greatly. Thank you Rachel! Want to be a Solemate for GOTR? More info at www.gotrchippewavalley.org

Meet one of our Solemates...Alex Butterbrodt! Why did you become a Solemate? I decided to be a SoleMate because it is a way to raise money for this amazing organization to keep the program going and make it possible for all the girls in the Chippewa Valley to be a Girl on the Run. I also became a SoleMate to keep myself motivated with running and doing triathlons. It is easy to fall out of a routine of running but with being a SoleMate I always have a goal in mind that keeps me going. What motivates you? In all honesty, the person who motivates me the most is myself. I have always been a person who pushes myself to accomplish the goals I set. I have always been a very independent and driven person so when I set goals I set them pretty high. I am also motivated by health. I focus my day to day life around a healthy balanced diet, regular exercise, drinking enough water, getting enough to sleep and having a positive mindset. I make sure to surround myself with people who support this lifestyle. I do have to say that when I have a day where I don't feel like going out for a run, I throw on the 90s pop radio on pandora and Britney and NSYNC help me power through the miles. GOTR thanks Alex!!!
